Who is the Hierophant and what treasures can we find within his blessing’s?
What is guidance, what it learning without wisdom.. without understanding?
The Hierophant calls on us to seek something deeper. To bow in awe and esteem not for who he/she is but for what he/she brings through. On our journey of self-knowing, of remembering our connection to Spirit we find those who have walked the path before us, to bring us the keys to the doors. The doorways through illusion and into meaning, into the very heart of consciousness itself.
The Hierophant is the bridge between the immaterial and the material, the spiritual and the physical. The Great Teacher. Those who can guide the seekers of wisdom into the folds. Can clearly and astutely teach the ways of wisdom. Can show you the Worlds’ contained within each of your cells.
The Hierophant, associated with Taurus, grounds the Spiritual quest within a tangible Earth-bound system. He/She is the scribe, the practitioner, the learned and devout follower of a faith who has risen through this quest to become a leader, a spokesman for the discipline of seeking ‘truth’. He is held within a framework, a structure, a time-honoured container. The Hierophant in truth could be a Priest of any religious sect but is usually seen as being a part of a particular tradition, a speaker within the structures of a church, religion, cosmology or orthodoxy that seeks to instruct the student along well-defined paths.
That sacred 'home' of the spiritual spaces in society speaks of stability and safety. Something the Taurus bull has great affection for.
However in our present World there remain both established practises but also more liberal spiritual ones, and in these latter formations The Hierophant can be someone who can guide us towards hope, reclamation of our hearts, and a compass to deeper connection with Spirit. This could be Ram Dass, Gandi, Eckart Tolle, for example
And so, as we navigate this month we may look for our own individual pull towards greater unification with ourselves, a greater self-knowing. We may find ourselves drawn towards self-development, spiritual security through practices of meditation or yoga, or deeper nourishment that foods and drinks can't quite quench.
Spring brings with it gestation and birth, it is a time when the Earthly realms call spirit into matter, forging new life. We hear calls of love from Venus, calls of life from the earth and within our lives we find ourselves listening more closely to the whispers of Spirit and perhaps we reach for that book, podcast, spiritual guide to teach us how to deepen this experience.
And with Venus ruling over Taurus and her creative potential blooming within our bellies, we may need the steadfast, well-recognised systems of The Hierophant and the fertile, strong-willed self-belief of the bull to drive us towards their physical realisation.
Taking the creative potential and turning it into creation. Taking an idea of beauty and creating something beautiful.
Spirit flowing into form. Expression being birthed and given the space to breathe.
And through all this we can then see there is an aspect of the Hierophant within us all.
